UE Receives Specialized Accreditation of School of Business Administration Programs

The University of Evansville has been notified that it has attained specialized accreditation for the School of Business Administration's undergraduate bachelor's degree programs. This action was approved by the Board of Directors of the AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the premier accrediting agency and service organization for business schools.

"This is another example of the University of Evansville's commitment to excellence and dedication to student achievement," said UE President Stephen Jennings. The AACSB accreditation is the highest standard of achievement for business schools around the globe. "Not only is our University ranked in the top 10 in the Midwest by U.S. News and World Report's 'America's Best Colleges,' but now our business program joins the elite business schools in the world that have met the rigorous standards of AACSB international accreditation

." To achieve accreditation with AACSB, business programs must satisfy the expectations of a wide range of quality standards relating to strategic management of resources, interactions of faculty and students in the educational process, and achievement of learning goals in degree programs. During this process, UE was visited and evaluated by a team of peer reviewers, including business school deans of some of the world's most prestigious business schools who have detailed knowledge of management education.

Mark Lemond, UE School of Business Administration alumnus, CEO of Shoe Carnival and Indiana’s 2001 Entrepreneur of the Year, said that his degree from UE prepared him well for his future. "To compete successfully, you have to have learned how to work with an open mind and to be creative and flexible, understanding the fundamentals of business," Lemond said. "My preparation for the business world began at UE through the combination of a liberal arts education and the curriculum I studied through the School of Business Administration. UE's forte has always been preparing students to contribute to their organizations and society at large; which is now being recognized with this prestigious accreditation.

" Recognition of the School's unique experiential learning curriculum and its community engagement were critical elements that were cited in the review process as examples of an outstanding educational program. "This achievement reflects a milestone in the transformations that were envisioned as we accepted the Lilly Endowment's challenge to transform our programs and community engagement in 2003," said Robert Clark, Schroeder Family Dean of the School. "The peer review team cited UE's Institute for Global Enterprise in Indiana and its community engagement as examples of the finest in community service and a model for other business schools to follow."
