Tel Aviv Stock Exchange Chairman briefs UE Business Students:

On November 16, 2005 Professor Yair E. Orgler, Chairman of the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange spoke to UE business students on the topic of The Tel-Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE): Growth and Opportunity in the Global Arena. Professor Orgler emphasized the importance of a securities market in the economic development of a region. The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange has a market capitalization of $111 billion. In dollar terms it increased 63% in 2003; 25% in 2004; and 15% year to date in 2005. The briefing also covered the importance and impact of the region’s political environment on the exchange. In response to student questions Professor Orgler noted that the Israeli financial markets are well regulated and offer American investors opportunities to trade Sunday through Thursday. The video conference was arranged by finance Professor Walayet Khan.
