Steven J. Beck President/CEO Indiana Venture Center, Inc.November 2nd, 8:00 a.m. in Hyde Hall Room 126 OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS Leading the Indiana Venture Center in its quest for success is Steven J. Beck. Beck, who has been instrumental in new business development within Indiana, brings an array of experience and contacts from the venture arena. He has founded and become the first president of organizations that concentrate on providing financing for high growth businesses – the Venture Club of Indiana Inc. and the Indiana Statewide Certified Development Corporation – and has also developed the Ball State University entrepreneurship class “Financing for the Growth Venture” which he taught for 16 years. Beck also co-founded the Indiana Community Business Credit Corporation. Prior to the Indiana Venture Center, Beck was the Senior Vice President and Founder of Old National Bank’s Indianapolis banking operations. Since the operation started in January 2000 to the time of Beck’s departure in September 2003, Old National’s assets had grown to $450,000,000, thus making it the fastest growing banking operation in the Midwest. Also within the banking industry, Beck has been the Senior Vice President at Peoples Bank and Trust Company, and he co-founded Huntington National Bank of Indiana in 1986. During the ten years at Huntington National Bank, the Indiana operation grew from a de novo start-up to $1.4 billion in assets. Throughout his career, Beck has become highly recognized in the community. Beck was the recipient of the 1996 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for Indiana; he is a two time winner of the Indiana Banker of the Year award, and a recipient of the Sagamore of the Wabash from the Governor of Indiana. He holds degrees from Bellarmine University, Butler University, and Rutgers University. He is also a founding member of Saints Francis & Claire Catholic Church. |
