Delta Sigma Pi Names Linda White As Business Leader of the Year
Linda White, president and chief executive officer of Deaconess Hospital, was named the University of Evansville’s Delta Sigma Pi Business Leader of 2004 during an awards luncheon in her honor, Thursday, April 22, at UE. The award, presented annually, recognizes an area professional who has exhibited leadership through commercial, civic and cultural activities and who has exemplified the highest ethical and professional standards. White joined Deaconess Hospital in 1974 and has held numerous positions in the organization during her tenure, including Assistant Vice President of Nursing and Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. White completed the Deaconess School of Nursing diploma program in 1974, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics at Indiana State University in 1970, a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Evansville in 1976 and her Master’s in Business Administration in 1983 also from the University of Evansville. She also holds an advanced certification as an American Nurse Administrator. White’s civic and community involvement includes a long list of local organizations. She has served on the boards of directors of Leadership Evansville, Operation City Beautiful, The Ark Crisis Nursery and Junior League. Currently, she is past president of the board of directors and a current member of the board of the Boys and Girls Club of Evansville, and is a member of the University of Evansville Alumni Board, board of directors of the YWCA and the United Way of Southwestern Indiana. She is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives, the Indiana Organization of Nurse Executives, VHA Central Nurse Executives, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. She was recognized as Evansville’s 2001 Athena Award Recipient. The Business Leader of the Year award has been presented annually by the UE Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity since 1981. The past five year’s recipients include: Steven Chancellor (2003); Larry Dunigan (2002); John Stanley (2001); Ronald Reherman (2000); and Alan Braun (1999).
