UE Business NewsNew EMBA Degree OfferedArea professionals are now able to receive an executive-style Master of Business Administration degree in 20 months, through a new program approved on October 14, 2006 by the Board of Trustees of the University of Evansville. "The Executive MBA program is a great complement to The Schroeder Family School of Business Administration's undergraduate classes and community offerings," UE President Stephen Jennings said. "Area business people have expressed a desire for this type of program and the University is proud to fulfill the needs of the community and region. This program provides those enrolled the opportunity to develop themselves for achievement at the highest levels of leadership." "The UE Executive MBA takes 20 months for an individual to complete and is designed for individuals from any undergraduate background who have five or more years of progressive professional experience," said Robert Clark, dean of The Schroeder Family School of Business Administration and vice president for strategic initiatives. In addition to core courses, the weekend sessions include instruction and learning exercises that emphasize global themes, an integral part of the program. Furthermore, there are invited speakers and other opportunities for students to exchange ideas and engage in learning outside the classroom. Susan Kupisch, vice president of Academic Affairs, said the University's Executive MBA program incorporates the current thinking in higher education in terms of professional program format and focus. "It is built on a model of active student engagement in developing an advanced knowledge base and requisite skill sets which are needed in a fast paced, global, and complex world of business." Through UE's program, students will develop their capacity to lead in organizational situations, apply knowledge in new and unfamiliar circumstances through a conceptual understanding of relevant disciplines, as well as to be more readily able to adapt and innovate in solve problems and managing unpredictable environments. "The Executive MBA program provides an opportunity for our corporations to develop their exceptional talent for the future," Clark added. "The Executive MBA program, which is accredited by the AACSB International, seeks to engage students in the practice and application of essential tools of management. The program's distinctive curriculum has a global perspective with local application." Clark added. "Recognizing and developing future leaders is critical to the economic future of our region. The evidence shows that in preparing for tomorrow's challenges growing one's own talent is a critical element."
