Rob Montgomery is Associate Professor of Marketing at the University of Evansville where he has served on the faculty since 1998. Prior to coming to UE, Rob was Assistant Professor of Marketing at the University of North Carolina Pembroke for five years. Rob received his DBA and MBA at Mississippi State University and his BSBA from the University of Southern Indiana.
Rob has taught every marketing course at one time or another. Currently he teaches Principles of Marketing, Marketing Research, Strategic Marketing Management, Personal Selling, and E-Marketing. The latter two courses were developed by Dr. Montgomery. Rob’s unique teaching experiences include team-teaching Contemporary European Business Issues in England in the summer of 2004; marketing research students conduct research for local businesses which have resulted in four refereed publications with five student co-authors; marketing class created the Tri-State Career Profiles Portfolio to help attract and retain labor in the Tri-state area in 2002 and 2003; and Integrated Marketing Communications class promoted the Indianapolis Colts in Evansville in 1999. Rob was voted the Delta Sigma Pi Business Professor of the Year in 2002.
Rob’s research interests include Sports Marketing, the Values of Generations X and Y, and Brand Communities. His research has appeared in The Sports Journal, Business and Economic Review, The Academy of Marketing Studies Journal, Journal of Marketing Management, Journal of Nonprofit & Public Sector Marketing, Journal of Ministry Marketing and Management, Midwest Review of Finance and Insurance, Great Ideas for Teaching Marketing, and others. Rob received the Allied Academies Distinguished Research Award in 2003 for his work on the Values of Generation Y. He received the Marketing Management Association Best Paper Award in 1998.
When away from academia, Rob is a devoted father, an avid outdoorsman and a lights-out three point shooter.
